Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu files for contempt against AGF, DSS

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed contempt proceedings against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura.

Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, yesterday said the suit was initiated following the failure of the federal government and its relevant institutions to give effect to an order made by Justice Adeniyi Ademola of an Abuja Federal High Court which ordered his release.

He said the contempt proceedings had been formally initiated before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja for the committal of the Attorney General and Director General of the DSS for non-execution of the court order dated December 17, 2015.

However, he said a date was yet to be fixed for a formal hearing of the suit as the application was yet to be assigned to any court.
