Human traffickers attempts to sell 5-yr-old for N12m

Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected child traffickers for alleged theft of a five-year-old female pupil of Skyset Academy, Asaba, to be sold for N12 million at Onitsha, Anambra State.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Zanna, announced this yesterday while parading the suspects alongside 66 others arrested for armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, murder, vandalism and oil bunkering.

He said the two traffickers were apprehended by men of the command following a tip-off. He explained that they had planned the operation to raise money to bail the popular Madam Cash and her cohorts, who were in police custody for running baby factories and child trafficking syndicate among other sundry crimes.

Attributing the recent spate of crime in the state to the ember months, Zanna noted that the command is embarking on a robust visibility policing through foot and motorised patrol, joint patrol with sister agencies, traffic control, intelligence and information gathering and sharing to ensure that crime was wiped off the state.
