The Economic and Financial Crimes has arrested the former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati.
An official in the commission confirms on Monday that Abati was brought to the commission’s office “in the early hours of the afternoon.”
The source stated that the former presidential spokesman was still writing his statement as of the time of filing this story on Monday.
He could not, however, confirm whether the prominent journalist was being quizzed in connection with the 2015 campaign funds of the Peoples Democratic Party or not.
The source doubted if the former Chairman, Editorial Board of The Guardian, would be allowed to go home on Monday.
“The EFCC has arrested the former Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“The man is still writing his statement. Honestly, I cannot tell you what they are holding him for. I am not sure if it has to do with the campaign funds of the PDP in the last elections.”
