See project Nigeria as a baby learning how to grow- Abubakar urges IPOB, MASSOB


The former Nigerian head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar has appealed to the agitating sections of the country to embrace dialogue as the veritable instrument to sustainable growth of the economy.
 
He urged members of the Niger-Delta Avengers, NDA;  the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualization of the  Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, to see project Nigeria as a baby learning how to grow which would take a process of development.

The former head of state stated this in Nnewi, Anambra state, while commissioning The Nnewi Hotel and Events Center built by his friend, Ben Aghazu. He noted that the collective responsibility of every Nigerian would ensure sustainable growth for the economy. 

Also speaking on the issue, the former governor of old Kaduna state in the second republic, Abubakar Balarabe Musa and a civil activist, said the issue of restructuring Nigeria being suggested   by many Nigerians as the solution of the country’s multi-faceted problem should be holistic; where leaders would lead by example and followers too would replicate same. 

He called for cross fertilization of ideas across the region to resuscitate the nation’s dwelling economy. The former head of state who went on facility tours of the Chikason Group manufacturing owned by Dr Chika Okafor, Ibeto Group, manufacturer of battery, plastics and cement praised the manufacturers for their immense contribution to the development of the country. 

The chairman of the Chikason Group, Chika Okafor thanked Abubakar for his visit to the company and appealed to the federal government to assist the manufacturers to enable them contribute more to the economy of the country. Importantly, he appealed that urgent step should be taken to prove stable power in the country particularly Nnewi where he said manufacturers run their factories on Diesel on daily basis, a development that has let to the closure of many industries in the area.
