The Central Mosque in Onitsha, Anambra State has been sold to an Oraukwu-born Igbo businessman J.I Ejison for the sum of 30 million naira, Somtoo Okoye blog can authoritatively report. The Onitsha Central Mosque is the second of the two mosques in Anambra.
J.I Ejison, the sole importer and distributor of Bullet Energy Drinks, also owns Ejison Phone Plaza, a building several streets away from the Central Mosque in Main Market, Onitsha.
The phone plaza which is located next to Nimek Plaza (also known as Emeka Offor Plaza) was opened in January 2017 and had the attendance of rapper Phyno, and ex-footballer Jay Jay Okocha and other celebrities at the launch ceremony.
This development is subsequent to the notice given to Igbo people of Southeast by some Northern Nigeria youths group under the aegis of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, to depart from the Northern part of the country due to renewed and heated secessionist talks. The Northerners themselves, are observed leaving the Southeast in droves of hundreds daily.
The Southeastern Nigeria, mostly made up of the Igbo people, have been demanding for a separate state of Biafra since the Nigerian Civil War in 1967.
