Police kill bandits, recover stolen vehicle in Warri

Policemen of the Warri Area Command, Delta State, Wednesday, killed two suspected armed robbers during a shootout with a gang of four suspects.
The state Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said arms, ammunition and a stolen getaway vehicle were recovered from the bandits, while efforts were on to arrest the other two.

A witness told Vanguard that police were alerted and they chased the suspects, who had snatched a Toyota Highlander, with  number plates KJA 320 BK from one Azubike Nwajuana at Ajamimogha near Okere Market in Warri at about 5p.m.

The chase ended on NPA Express Bridge between Chevron Complex and the Delta State Broadcasting Service, DBS, when the getaway car skidded and somersaulted.

A shootout then ensued. Vanguard gathered that the robbers ran under the bridge in escape bid, but the police succeeded in killing two.
