ALL Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in the just concluded governorship primaries in Edo State, Mr. Casely Omon-Irabor, narrowly escaped death when assassins invaded his home in Warri, Delta State.
Omon-Irabor, who spoke to Vanguard on phone, said: “There was assassination attempt on my life at the early hours of July 5. At about 3.00 am, some hoodlums broke into my house through the back door and climbed the ceiling and later came down by the kitchen.”
“They marched my son from the sitting room to my bedroom where I was sleeping. They pointed a gun at me and a torch light having successfully disconnected my source of electricity, gagged my security guard and tied him up in the toilet at the security gate house.
“They told me that they were sent to kill me and that unless I gave them N5,000,000, they will kill me. I pleaded with them that I do not have such money and that the only money I have was N1, 600, with which I intended to fuel the generator in the office that morning,” he said.
According to him: “They then asked me where I work and I told them that I am a human rights lawyer, one of them, who seems to be their leader asked of my name and I told them. Meanwhile, I was shouting God of T.B. Joshua rescue me, about five of them were still searching the rooms for money and gold. As soon as I mentioned my name, they all stopped.”
“They had already tied my hands and legs, forced me to lie down and face the ground. Then one of them pointed his torch light on me and they went into my toilet for about a minute and came back and said: “Raise your face and one of them shouted na him oh! so na Omon-Irabor them say make we go kill, this na bad job.
“He then said, Oga, you too good, me no go shoot you, but one insisted, let us waste him and go, but their leader took his gun from him and said let us go.
The man then collected my bag which I kept the N1, 600 and other valuable documents, laptops and phones and they all left,” he narrated.
