Pipeline bombing: JTF raids Sandfield II community, Warri


The Joint Military Task Force, JTF, from 3 Battalion Effurun, Delta State invaded Sandfield II community,
Warrri, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state in search of one Mr. Jonathan Oyanwei and his gang over recent bombing of pipeline, kidnapping and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta region.

The commanding officer 3 Battalion Effurun, Major Monday Azanku, when contacted, confirmed the raid by his men on the Sandfield II Warri community and Okumagba area in Warri metropolis, saying Oyanwei and others are wanted for their alleged criminal activities in Warri and its environ. 

“Late last Sunday night, we carried out a raid to fish-out criminal elements who are using these communities as their hideout. Most of the boys in the community are kidnappers, hired killers, cultists, pipeline vandals and illegal bunkerers. Those arrested during the raid are undergoing investigation and some of them we feel have no case to answer have been set free. Oyanwei and others are those in our blacklist. We will continue until Warri and its environ is cleared of these criminals.” 

Meanwhile, fleeing residents of Sandfield II community have accused naval authority in Warri of providing protection for an alleged pipeline vandal, Mr. Jonathan Oyanwei, whom they said made the JTF storm the community chasing away its inhabitants. 

Two internally displaced persons,IDP, from the community, Mr. Felix Gboko and Mrs Izon-ere Banner said, the Sandfield II people in Warri have been living in apprehension over the presence of Oyanwei and his gang. 

Lamenting their ordeal, they urged the Navy authority in Warri to handover Oyanwei to the JTF for questioning and investigation
