Governor Willie Obiano whhile inspecting the progress of installation of streetlights along the Awka-Amawbia-Nawfia-Enugwu-Ukwu-Abagana-Ogidi-Nkpor
road project at Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu explained that the street lights was part of his determination to ensure that Anambra state will be at par with other developed societies.
Inspecting work on the project, Governor Obiano said the second phase of the project will start from Nkpor to Onitsha.
He added that the street lights will be gas powered and is of high quality.
The Governor enjoined communities where the street lights are cited to take full ownership of the project and place strict surveillance on them to avoid vandalization.
The commissioner for Public Utilities Mr. Obi Nwankwo said his Ministry is out to ensure that the job is done according to specifications adding that the beauty of the project is that they will use lED bulbs that conserves energy.
An indigene of the area Mr. Andrew Obidike appreciated Governor Obiano for the gesture which he said will improve night life.
