NNPC Mega Station In Dutse Engulfed By Fire (PHOTO)

A mega fuel station, belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has been engulfed by fire in Dutse, the Gombe state capital.

NAN reports that the catastrophic incident happened in the evening of Tuesday, January 19.

According to a staff of the station who spoke under anonymity, a 40,000-liter tanker laden with petroleum, caught fire while offloading.
The source said: “The good thing is that it did not affect anyone as those on duty ran for safety.”
He stated that the cause of the fire was yet unknown, as men of the state fire service and Dutse international airport were on ground to put out the fire. As of press-time, Malam Balarabe, the supervisor of the gutted station, could not be reached.
However, Malam Muhammad Fari, the state commandant of National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), confirmed the incident.
Malam Fari told pressmen that he had since drafted his men to the scene of the incident.
