The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday declared that the People’s Democratic Party failed to complete single major infrastructure project in 10 years.

He said this at the 11th Bola Tinubu Colloquium held in Abuja.

Osinbajo lamented that Nigeria earned $383billion in four years, 2010 – 2014, the highest ever in the history of our country, yet Lagos-Ibadan expressway was not done.

“Lagos-Kano Railway and all that is being done today, not done then. We cannot point to a single major infrastructure project that was completed in the 10-year period, despite the high earnings, including power.

“So, a government coming after so many years of waste must be a government, first, that emphasizes fiscal prudence, a government that emphasizes integrity in public finance so that it would manage the little resources to achieve the maximum that can be achieved.

“And that is what President Muhammadu Buhari set out to do. As I keep saying, the president has never claimed to be an orator. He just gets things done,” he said.

The Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, has declared Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state.

At its sitting in Abuja on Friday, the tribunal voided the cancellation of elections in seven polling units in the state, therefore holding that Gboyega Oyetola, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not validly returned.

Reading the ruling on behalf of a three-member panel of judges, Justice Peter Obi held that the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had no powers to cancel the election in the seven polling units on September 22, 2018, which led leading to the rerun election on September 27, 2018.

A truck driver has been rewarded for his bravery in the face of intimidation by the police and some soldiers after his tyre was shot by a soldier.

The incident happened on Thursday at the border town between Benue and Nsukka, Enugu. A soldier had shot the tyre of a petrol tanker because the driver wouldn’t give him bribe.

However, the driver angrily steered his tanker across the road and blocked other road users. In solidarity, the victim’s friends also drove up with their trailers and blocked the entire road, stopping all movements in or out of Enugu.

The driver then went ahead to demand for N120k for his damaged tyre. Soon, an array of policemen arrived to intimidate him, but he stood his ground .

Eventually, the driver reduced his demand to N100k after so much pleading and the soldier made a bank transfer to him.

A 13-year old girl who was declared missing in Lagos, told her parents when she resurfaced that she was not missing, rather she was in a hotel in the Lekki area of Lagos where one of their neighbours had engaged her in sex romps.

The neighbour, 35-year old Friday Ogoni, reportedly lured the victim from their house at Titilayo Street in Ifako area of Lagos to an undisclosed hotel in Lekki area for the romp which lasted for three days.

While he took the 13-year old girl away and hid her in the hotel, her parents were looking for her and Ogoni even joined the search party.

The matter was reported to the police who joined in searching for the girl until Ogoni released her having satisfied himself and she returned home.

However, the matter got exposed when the parents asked to know what happened. She then told the parents that she was not missing; she explained how Ogoni took her to a hotel in the Lekki area of Lagos and they had sex for the three days.

Shocked by her revelation, the parents reported to the police; Ogoni was arrested and detained at the police station for abduction and rape.

The matter was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for further investigation where the suspect admitted committing the offence but claimed that he did not force her.

However, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

The court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emerhi, informed the court that the victim was a minor and the matter will need DPP’s advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, ordered his remand in prison custody without an option of bail. The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

It was gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable. He will then be charged for abduction and rape which will attract long prison term.

Ogoni will remain in prison custody till 24th April, 2019, when the DPP’s advice was expected in court on the adjourned date.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has sounded serious warning to the leadership of the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), to make sure that their members do not in anyway destabilise the peace of the state during the governorship and House of Assembly elections billed to take place on saturday.
He gave the warning during a meeting with the leadership of the union at a meeting in his Bourdillion, Ikoyi residence on Tuesday.

It was reported in the media that members of the union harassed Igbo traders especially in Mushin, Surulere and Oshodi areas of the state for allegedly voting against the APC during the elections while some of them engaged in ballot box snatching in areas alleged to be strongholds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tinubu, who expressed his displeasure over the rumoured attacks on non-indigenes in some parts of the state during and after the presidential and National Assembly elections by members of the union, said Igbo residents in Lagos are free to vote for any candidate of their choice during elections.
One of Tinubu’s aide, who was privy to the meeting said Tinubu who said elections should not cause disunity and war among Nigerians also warned the leaders of the union against incidents of ballot box snatching, intimidation and harassment of voters, saying anyone who engages in such acts will have himself to blame.
